Senior Accountant
Hybrid role located in San Diego, CA
(2-3 days/week in office)

Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial reports, records, general ledgers and performing general bookkeeping (in accordance with US GAAP) as well as supporting the monthly close process. In addition, you will support the financial leadership in carrying out the responsibilities of the Finance / Accounting Department. The Senior Accountant is expected to own and maintain a process, show strong analytical and communication skills.

Roles & Responsibilities
This position has responsibility for:
• Manage the preparation of consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from other departments
• Prepares general ledger entries, maintaining records and files; reconciles accounts
• Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
• Prepares forecasts and reviews for tracking and planning purposes related to cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets and other
• Provide back-up support for various functional areas of the accounting department including AR and AP
• Assist with new guidance implementations
• Partners with the Financial leadership team and extended Finance team in working on the annual audit, ad hoc projects including tax projects, M&A research, and analysis and financial research
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
• Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures; complying with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.
• Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes
• Coordinate requests between various tax entities (third party tax preparer, federal, state and county) and accounting team, including assisting with preparation of requests.
• Mentor and train junior Accountants

Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)
• 5-8 years' of relevant experience
• Proficient Microsoft Office user; Excel
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Results-oriented, resourceful, and service-driven
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a time sensitive environment
• Strong accounting knowledge and exceptional attention to detail
• Willingness to challenge the status quo in order to enhance productivity, processes and procedures
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in Oracle OR SAP a plus

Education Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• CPA candidate

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
