This is located at the Santa Clara, California Site; the position is for an R&D Engineer, Hardware Advanced.
The assignment is for 7-9 months, this is an immediate need.
Job Description:
A global leader in providing laboratory automation solutions for drug discovery and a range of other scientific research and development applications. Help us become the standard in laboratory automation by providing our customers with the Ultimate Automation Experience*. We are looking for an electrical/firmware engineering contractor to design robots for life science applications. The duration of the contract will be of 9 months, the contractor should be able to start full-time during the entire duration of the contract (40hrs/week).
Job Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
* 10 years experience with embedded systems design and firmware
* Proficiency with EE CAD programs
* Skilled in Electrical Design
* Experienced in AC circuits and AC power distribution
* Proficient in Analog Design
* Proficient in Digital Design
* Experience in C/embedded C programming
* Experience with Assembly/Firmware programming
* Experience with PIC microcontrollers
* Experience with RS232 and RS485
* Experienced in designing motor driving circuits and firmware
* Experienced in automation equipment and machinery.
* Experienced in design for meeting the Machine Directive.
* Familiar with safety compliance and EMC directives
* Experience with compliance testing is preferred
* Demonstrated history of creativity in solutions to complex problems
* Ability to be productive and work collaboratively with team members from multiple disciplines
* Ability to take initiative and be self-motivated
* Ability to manage time between multiple projects
* Demonstrated history of driving projects to completion in schedule driven environments
* Excellent communication skills, written as well as oral
Education/Experience:
* Bachelor´s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field. Advanced degrees are strongly preferred
Notes: Electrical engineering skills are more important for this position, but still need sufficient C/embedded C/assembly development skills to perform all the tasks required for this position.
