Based in San Jose, California, USA, our Communications Business Unit (CBU) is seeking a Embedded Software (Firmware) Engineer to develop new and port existing embedded software for our OEM customers.

Responsibilities for this career-enriching position include:
•Designing and implementing embedded software for various synchronization applications
•Analyzing Customer requirements and targeting platform evaluations
•Reference board bring-up and development environment setup
•Working with internal developers as well as other remote developers
•Supporting OEM customers on technical issues related to integration and verification

Key qualifications for this position include:
•Minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics
•Minimum 5 years of software design experience with 2 year minimum writing programs for embedded Linux or RTOS
•Solid programming experience in C and C++ with emphasis on embedded systems
•Hands on experience with embedded development environment and tool chain
•Understanding of OS coding techniques such as threading, processes, drivers, interrupts, etc
•Understand hardware subsystems, interfaces and hardware debugging method
•Excellent communication, writing and organizational skills

Valued experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
•Packet network time synchronization protocols, such as NTP and IEEE-1588
•Telecom protocols and technologies such as E1, T1, ATM, Frame Relay
•Wireless communication systems and networks
•Network security protocols such as Radius and others
•FPGA development or interfacing
•Prior experience developing embedded system products for telecommunications or network equipment technology companies
