GENERAL OVERVIEW
The Principal Engineer provides technical leadership to a team of talented and experienced software engineers, designing and developing innovative software, while ensuring that best practices in software engineering are being used by the team. The successful candidate must be able to work with Product Management and Customer Support to ensure that features and defects are being addressed properly. This person should also have excellent verbal and written communications skills and a strong analytical mind.

Our ideal candidate has a strong networking background, preferably with work experience in network security or network administration.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide technical leadership for software development of IP360
• Responsible for design of new features and integration with overall product architecture
• Represent IP360 on the Suite360 architecture committee
• Ensure that the best software development processes are being used consistently
• Develop software components and set the highest standards of speed and quality
• Interact with QA regularly to ensure that new features can be easily tested and that handoffs to QA are happening regularly and effectively
• Mentor junior engineers and encourage training of all engineers in internal technologies and external technologies
• Interact with customers on high-profile issues or feature delivery

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• BS or equivalent experience
• 10+ years experience, with hands-on development of a TCP/IP networking engine, such as a firewall, IDS, sniffer, packet analyzer or vulnerability scanner
• Strong C/C++ coding skills
• Strong Unix/Linux development skills, including gcc and gdb
• Experience with scripting: shell, Perl, Python, etc.
• Experience with VMWare, Xen or other hypervisors
• Experience in the security or networking space a plus
• Team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills
