Based in San Jose, California, USA, our Communications Business Unit (CBU) is seeking a creative and self-motivated Hardware Engineer to develop Telecom Precise Time-and-Frequency Servers/Clients, Primary Reference Sources and OEM modules.
This individual will have expertise in all facets of hardware development including discrete logic, analog RF, power supply design, FPGA design, proto-typing, debugging hardware and associated firmware, writing/updating functional specifications & test plans, as well as all engineering, and manufacturing documentation associated with maintaining products through their life cycle.
The ideal candidate for this position will be need to be capable of handling, prioritizing and managing multiple projects. Customer interface and occasional travel will also be required from this position.
Essential qualifications for this position include:
•BS degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
•Minimum 5 years industry experience
•Experience in developing, modifying hardware and testing/debug associated with, using microprocessors, micro-controllers and programmable logic devices as well as power supplies and filter circuits
•Knowledgeable with Schematic Capture and VHDL tools used in FPGA development
•Good communication skills
•Familiarity with engineering documentation, manufacturing documentation and change control systems, ie; Agile.
•Willing to learn various design tools and product families, and be willing to take over the ownership of those products
•Familiar with EMI/RFI design
Desired and valued experience and qualifications:
•Experience leading projects as a technical or project manager
•Experience with a telecom equipment
•Professional experience in developing and modifying digital/analog hardware circuits and RF associated with, clock recovery, direct digital synthesis, framing circuits and various communications interfaces used in-conjunction with multi-processor based instruments. Have the ability to use component data sheets, schematics, oscilloscope, logic analyzers, protocol analysis and other test equipment when testing/debugging product or individual circuit.
•Familiarity with version control systems such as MKS, CVS, PVCS, etc.
•Have enough software experience to write code to test the hardware circuits
•Knowledge of various telecom and datacom technologies such as: Ethernet, SONET/SDH, and MPLS; IP networking, IP QoS/DiffServ, IPSec; CDMA/GSM; network management: SNMP, TL-1, Telcordia's OSSs, TMF's Next Generation OSS, ITU's TMN
•Working knowledge of interfacing circuits associated with Serial Ports, 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet, T1 (DS1), E1 (CEPT) and protocols such as X.25, TL1, ATM, IEEE-1588 and ADSL
•Knowledge of GPS satellite system, Telecom Primary Reference Sources, Timing Signal Generators and associated signals for timing T1 (DS1), E1 (CEPT) or SONET networks would be a plus.
•Knowledge and experience with FPGA soft cores involving microprocessors, MAC, and PCI functions
•Knowledge of signal integrity issues in digital designs
•Knowledge of OCXO design and qualification techniques
