Job Title: - Lab System Admin

Job Summary:

As a Test Lab Systems Administrator you will work as part of a highly technical team of professionals who are responsible for supporting the infrastructure required for the development and testing of hardware and software. This position will work closely with onsite and remote lab users responding to the administration and troubleshooting needs of lab hardware and software in a timely fashion. You will utilize your strong technical background to support and advance compute and network infrastructure. To be successful you will need a strong technical orientation; be a creative problem solver; have excellent customer service skills; have a desire to advance in the field; and work well in a team-oriented environment.

Essential Functions:

The Test Lab Systems Administrator works as part of team in Development and Test Labs. Your specific areas of responsibilities include:

- Build, maintain and support compute and network infrastructure required for the development and testing of hardware and software.
- Ensure customer/user satisfaction.
- Analyze, test and debug operating systems and hardware configurations.
- Manage test configurations.
- Problem diagnosis and resolution.
- Perform off-hour change controls.
- Documentation of processes, configurations and lab use.
- Ensure the greatest and most efficient use of available lab resources with both a short-term and long-term view.
- Manage equipment tracking
- Work with senior systems administrators on review of entire environment and executing initiatives to reduce failures, defects and improving overall performance.
- Communicate with internal customers, peers, and managers regarding lab infrastructure issues, and recommend solutions.

Requirements:
- Experience with installation, maintenance, administration and troubleshooting of compute, IP and storage network operating systems and hardware.
- Experience with at least two (or more) of the following platforms (with a desire to learn the others):
* Linux - hardware and software
* Windows - hardware and software
* Cisco - hardware and software
* Brocade - hardware and software
- Knowledge of one or more storage networks protocols, i.e.: NFS, CIFS, FCAL, iSCSI.
- CLI (command line interface) experience, as opposed to reliance on GUI tools.
- Detail oriented host and network cabling skills.
- Ability to read operating system and application logs to troubleshoot both software and hardware issues.
- Ability to read/troubleshoot shell and Perl scripts.
- A creative approach to problem solving.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; including documentation.
- Ability to handle multiple complex tasks, with tight deadlines concurrently.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to perform well in a dynamic environment.
- Efficient user of Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Outlook and Visio
- Ability to follow and adhere to policies, procedures and standards relating to Systems management.
- Ability to handle multiple complex tasks, with tight deadlines concurrently.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team of other Systems Administrators to support deadlines; ability to work independently as well.
Education & Experience:

- At least 3 years of experience is required. 5 years or more preferred.
- A Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Sciences, or related technical field is required; or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, moderately complex technical tasks.
Responsibility:

- The tasks this individual is responsible for are often non-routine and unstructured, requiring creative solutions.
- This individual will apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving routine to moderately complex problems.
Interaction:
- This individual must work effectively with Staff to Vice President level employees within the function, and the technical team on assigned projects. There may be communication with employees in other functions as required.
- Limited management direction is provided to employee on new projects or assignments as well as review of activities and priorities.
- The ideal candidate will be a proactive contributor and subject matter expert on team projects.
- To be successful, this individual must demonstrate favorable results through coaching and influencing others.
