The NPI Manager will be responsible for leading a team of mixed disciplines, engineers, technicians and program schedulers. This team will participate in process and product validation, manufacturing test development, and product release processes. The mission is to deliver efficient and cost effective solutions for transitioning products from design to manufacturing.
Ideal candidates will have proven work experience leading technical teams through the development and product release process across a broad set of engineering disciplines.
The NPI Manager will build a team to ensure all NPIs have the appropriate resources to launch the products into production, and will be responsible for the following:
-Work with R&D and Marketing throughout the NPI gate process to ensure all deliverables are being met and are acceptable to the gate keepers
-Plan and coordinate Release to Pilot and Product Release meetings with gatekeepers
-Lead the DFx meetings within the team with Contract Manufacturer and communicate to R&D
-Plan and coordinate the formal tests for manufacturing
-Work with R&D, Marketing and V&V (Verification & Validation) test engineers to define a production test to meet customer specifications and diagnostic production testing
-Coordinate with R&D Project managers, software and hardware engineers to synchronize deliverables
-Lead the creation/maintenance of test plans and schedules
-Lead the production test solutions in automated or manual testing
-Work with Manufacturing Engineers in defining the collection of data on test results to substantiate requirements for process improvement
-Work with Supply Chain and Procurement to ensure the cost targets and gross margins are met once the product is launched into production. (cost model tools are in place)
-Coordinate with Supply Chain and Engineering Services the CO (Change Orders), PECOs (Preliminary Engineering Change Orders) and ECOs (Engineering Change Orders) for BOMs, drawings and documentation for proto, pilot and production builds.
-Create project plan for pilot and first production actions and deliverables
-Own the pilot scheduling with manufacturing to ensure all material, documentation is in place as per project schedule
-Report status/progress to cross functional team and gate keepers
-Write and communicate yearly reviews
-Set team metrics, communicate and align as needed
-Some Travel will be required
Essential Qualifications:
-BS or MS in Electrical Engineering w/ 5+ years experience in SW and HW engineering
-5+ years proven experience working with New Product Introduction (NPI) processes
Expertise in DFx (cost, test, manufacturing)
-Familiarity with PCB and manufacturing test development process
-Experience defining and developing test methodologies and test plans to verify designs
-Minimum 3 years managerial experience leading engineers in the development/implementation of products.
-Excellent written and verbal communications skills - Shows sense of urgency in completing the assigned tasks
-Experienced in providing engineering support in a manufacturing environment (e.g., maintenance of line support).
-Experienced in assisting with the design, evaluation and implementation of assembly machinery.
-Experienced in object oriented languages and SW architectures and test executives
-Experienced in manufacturing test in effective and robust measurement techniques, including uncertainty, test limits, and yield
-Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
-Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
-Experience interfacing with both domestic & overseas Contract Manufacturers
-Experience interfacing with multi-site engineering teams
-QA test design and implementation experience
-Knowledge of regulatory and certification requirements and experience with the testing processes (EMI, CE, Safety and Environmental, etc.)
