Java Front-End Developer

As part of the team, Java Front-End Developer provide software development services for internal and external projects, assisting with or assuming responsibility for software requirements, analysis, design, development, testing, integration, and implementation. Engineers participate in planning and carrying out project deliverables. Most of the team, once hired, stays for years because of the culture, ability for every person to have a say in the product and company, and to make a difference with other teammates and for the customer, and even the freedom and lee-way to implement projects the way they see fit. Engineers partner with each other and the team, and everyone has a voice. We are BART accessible and in a neighborhood with lots of great restaurants. It is a private company, stable, and has been around for 25 years. The product has very clean architecture and has constantly kept pace with technology. There is a lot of variety in the type of development you will get to do. Initially, you will be doing new product feature development, and getting to understand and know the product.

Duties and Responsibilities:
* Design and develop complex, multi-tiered transactional web (integrated with database) applications using Java/J2EE/Front-end technologies.
* Experience with client/server, multi-tier, and/or Internet architectures required
* Implement integration between applications, database platforms and mobile devices
* Develop front-end web applications using JavaScript / Ext JS (Cross-browser JavaScript) and Struts Frameworks.
* Design and write software code according to specifications, working independently
* Work as a contributing member of a multi-person development team, or comfortably solo on a one-person project if needed
* Work directly with clients
* Assist with integration, testing, and implementation activities, as required
* Integration of software applications on the SQL Server and Oracle database platforms.
* Perform tools research and analysis
* Participate in planning, preparing, coordinating, and carrying out client implementation activities, deliverables, and project plans
* Synchronize and implement software on mobile devices/PDA's/handhelds
* Development environment is mostly Windows/WinCE based
Qualifications:
Must Have's:
* Expert in Object-Oriented Analysis and Design using different programming languages, especially Java
* Very strong skills in front end development, particularly in HTML/XHTML/CSS web design techniques with dynamic behaviors implemented using JavaScript and HTML.
* Must have good Frameworks skills, JavaScript Framework (Ext JS) and Struts
* Strong experience with database platform integrations. Must have excellent SQL query writing skills. Work is done on the persistence layer, and will be developing multiple joint queries
* Must be proficient in working in a Windows OS environment
Highly Desirable:
* Strong experience in development using JSP and JMS
* Good understanding of web compliances including 508 Compliance (handicapped) and security issues on the web
* Worked with Database driven Internationalization/localization project at least once
* Experience with Enterprise Service Buses (ESB)

• Highly motivated to learn new skills and technologies; someone who takes initiative
• Able to learn new skills quickly and independently
• Willing and able to work in an unstructured environment
• Willing to "pitch in" to meet project deadlines
• Able to work in a consulting role (working with the end customer to define needs and product features)
• Good organizational and time management skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Ability to recognize and admit mistakes, and to take effective action to correct them
• Must be a team player
