Title: Database Engineer
Location: Scottsdale, AZ

Position Summary:
Database Architect develops data models for relational database business applications and maintains the development data structures. DBA experience strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Participate as a member of the DA team. Develop, refine, document, and present data models and related products that represent business information requirements in order to support business systems development projects. Implement data structures in both the Development and QA Testing environments. Assist with engineering of the data architecture for systems/applications adhering to the SDLC. Analyze information requirements of existing and proposed systems. 45%
2. Assist with internal business partners to help manage internal and external customer expectations. Coordinate IT team and internal customers for development of database products and database design. 20%
3. Maintain cross-client data configuration. Provide consistent generic configuration values to support system operations and reporting. 10%
4. Provide technical support to database administrators and application developers. Assist in continuous improvement efforts to enhance performance and provide increased functionality. 10%
5. Manage data structures for development, testing, training, and production databases to ensure availability and stability of corporate data resources. 10%
6. Track time on projects accurately and promptly. Report weekly status to next level supervisor. Demonstrate flexibility in meeting customer deliverables. 5%

Education and Training
Required - 4-year College Degree or Foreign equivalent in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Business Experience
3+ years in complex database design.

Required
• Healthcare background
• 3-5 years experience in data analysis and database architecture.
• 3-5 years experience in designing and managing data models for real-time business applications.
• 3-5 years experience facilitating Data Modeling sessions
• 3-5 years experience with full system development life cycle methods for developing business software solutions.
• 3-5 years experience with relational database concepts, preferably with Oracle, SQL, and advanced familiarity with data model frameworks.
• 3-5 years experience utilizing at least one data modeling tool.
• 2-3 years designing and implementing database structures, including indexing, check constraints, and triggers.
• Strong analytical/problem solving experience to deal with complex business problems.
• Good interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
• Must be a detail oriented, analytical and an independent thinker.
• Exercise excellent judgment within defined standards and guidelines in ambiguous situations.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, multi-task to meet critical deliverable dates and strive for results.
• Working knowledge of MS Windows Applications including MS-Project, MS-Visio, MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint, and MS-Word.

Desired
• Familiarity with PL/SQL, PRO*C, C++, Java, HTML programming languages.
• Familiarity with Rational Unified Process (RUP), UML, and Object Oriented Programming (OOP), and Service oriented Architecture (SOA).
• Experience with data quality management
• Experience with data warehouse design and implementation

Environment
Candidate is expected to work in General office environment. Occasional travel may be required. Candidate may be asked to work overtime occasionally and must be flexible for various project assignments when needed.
