Summary
This individual will lead a high-performance group of Software Quality Assurance and Test Engineers, located in both Pittsburgh, PA and Sunnyvale, CA, to deliver quality HPC storage products. The successful candidate for this job will be an experienced hands-on manager with strong leadership skills and proven success in testing large, complex, commercial software systems.
Responsibilities
• Recruit and attract new talent for the SQA team in order to meet headcount and roadmap plans to support multiple concurrent product releases within an aggressive schedule
• Responsible for facilitating and coordinating resources for approved projects
• Provide leadership for the team in developing comprehensive test suites and execute them against each product release
• Provide leadership with planning, estimation, scheduling, resourcing, and management of the testing effort for any product release
• Lead the test planning, test execution, and day-to-day activities of the SQA team to deliver products on time with a high level of quality
• Dive into the technical details to ensure appropriate test coverage
• Develop and track project testing schedules to deliver high quality software according to the plan
• Ensure that all SQA activities for all projects are following defined development/SQA processes
• Mentor the team in working with the development teams to review functional specification, design documents, test plans and test cases and test scripts
• Participate in project requirement definitions as well as priority setting for the projects
• Establish and implement changes to policies and processes which impact the team's operational efficiency and quality
• Maintain, enhance, create and implement quality assurance processes, metrics, standards and tools
• Champion and advocate product quality throughout the organization
• Provide people management and career development to the team
• Set clear objectives for direct reports and compare deliverables against objectives
• Ensure and drive the productivity and efficiency of a geographically dispersed team
Experience/Qualifications
• 8+ years of software testing, QA or development experience
• 5+ years of software quality or test engineering management experience
• Thorough understanding of software development and QA processes, principles, and techniques
• Strong collaboration skills
• Experience in testing file system, NAS or enterprise storage products
• Experience with Linux, C, Perl, Tcl and/or Python is desirable
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong operational management and leadership skills
• Innovative problem solving skills
• Experience with remote team management, both in-house and outsourced
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree
