The UX Designer is responsible for user experience strategy, information architecture, and UI design for SDL's web applications. This person will be responsible for multiple new and existing web applications. The position is based in Los Angeles, CA, reports to the Chief Architect, will work closely with other UX designers, product managers, product owners, and architects, and work with development teams located in the U.S. and Europe.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Understand business requirements and translate them into a world-class user experience for customers of SDL's products. Gain a deep understanding of SDL's user base and develop a powerful user experience strategy.
• Work in an agile development process to develop intuitive user experience for highly-scalable web applications while enabling iterative delivery. Work closely with architects, development and quality assurance teams to ensure compliance with UX specifications.
• Work closely with Product Managers, Product Owners and UI Engineers to develop UX specifications for (wireframes, detailed mockups, prototypes, page flows and personas) and supporting documentation for each release in a timely manner.
• Work with peer UX Designers to develop organization-wide UX design and information architecture guidelines, and enable seamless user experience between multiple systems.
• Work closely with architects to enable instrumentation of products to capture UX-centric metrics, and translate them into future improvements to usability. Organize and conduct active user research and studies to evaluate current implementation and translate findings into design improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 4+ years designing user experience for web applications (not web sites) with successful market launch of at least one such application.
• Experience with web applications that provide a high degree of social and professional interaction between users including content workflow, communication and payment transactions.
• Strong knowledge of usability, user interactions, personas, information architecture in the context of web applications.
• Solid portfolio of UX work related to SaaS applications for both Enterprise and Consumer market.
• Strong sense of providing concrete UX deliverables on time to the development team
• Good understanding of current web UI technologies/concepts (CSS, JavasScript, jQuery, social media, iPhone apps)
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues in individual and group settings
