Symmetricom is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join the Boulder-based GBU enterprise engineering team and will focus on the test set product line in our Government Business Unit.

The Systems Engineer will lead new feature development and sustaining engineering efforts for this product line. As technical owner of these products S/he will be expected to contribute directly to the design as well as coordinate the efforts of other engineers. These test sets are sophisticated precision measurement products and will require the systems engineer to acquire a thorough understanding of a system that includes hardware, firmware, DSP and software. The position works directly with customers as well as production to ensure that the product meets or exceeds the customer's expectations.

Key responsibilities for this position include:
-Responsible for all engineering aspects of the Test Set product line. This includes:
-Design related problem resolution both in house and from the field.
-Obsolete parts replacement including identification of new parts and their qualification.
-Implementation of new features as approved by Marketing via the PDI or PTR processes.
-Sustaining engineering.
-Coordinating and leading all efforts to implement design changes and updates with other engineers in Boulder, San Jose or Beverly, as needed.
-Gaining a detailed understanding of all aspects of the Test Set product line. This includes the hardware, firmware, DSP and software as well as the mechanical and thermal systems.
-Designing for manufacturability, including following proper design practices, documentation, oversight of first articles. Collaborative development with systems and software engineers, as well as manufacturing.
-Working closely with Quality, Operations, Customer Service and other people in engineering to improve product reliability and customer satisfaction.
-Defining high precision timing solutions utilizing state of the art digital and analog electronics.

Essential Qualifications for this position include:
-BSEE with at least 5 years experience
-Analog, digital and RF design skills
-Digital, analog, and limited firmware (FPGA, DSP, embedded) development.
-Demonstrated leadership, self management, and ability to work with sometimes vague and changing requirements
-Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with a diverse
employee group and across technologies, disciplines and functions
-System design and development process methodologies
-Strong oral and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications:
-MSEE
-PADS Schematic capture and PCB layout
-FPGA and DSP development
