Opportunity: Staff Technical Writer – VxWorks

This opportunity with Wind River Systems is crucial in enabling our customers to use Wind River products to their full capacity. We are looking for someone who understands minimalist writing yielding maximum effect for a developer audience. Responsibilities will include:
- Writing user-centric, task-oriented OS documentation for our software developer audience.
- Interfacing with subject matter experts in a fast-paced Agile environment, across various geographic location, to gather information, verify it against the product, and incorporate it into the Wind River doc set.
- Developing new content (including step-by-step procedures and scripts for video tutorials) and update existing materials to enable customers in their development of VxWorks-based software for a wide variety of embedded devices.
- Working with colleagues across geographic locations and time zones (e.g. Europe and Asia) and flexing work hours to accommodate international meetings.
Minimum qualifications:
- Experience using the command line as well as an integrated development environment (such as Eclipse) to compile and debug code in order to verify tutorials and procedures.
- Experience with DITA XML authoring and content migration.
- Experience with Adobe FrameMaker and Acrobat.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- 5 or more years of experience writing highly-technical customer-facing documentation for software development: programmer guides, compiler documentation, embedded systems docs, driver configuration docs, etc.
- BA, BS, or equivalent in a technical field of study (such as computer science, electrical engineering, or math) or equivalent work experience.
Familiarity with:
- Adobe FrameMaker and Acrobat
- Cross-development environment for embedded devices
- VxWorks Development Platform
- Programming languages (C/C++, Python, Perl, or scripting)
- Jira, Rally, git, or SVN
