Report Developer/ Writer
Los Angeles, CA
The Report Developer will participate in the design, development and deployment of reports for a multi-terabyte data warehouse. This will also involve development and deployment of metadata components such as report prompts, calculated metrics and re-usable filters. The candidate will also assist in integrating the BI metadata with existing security architecture and aid in identifying, researching, and resolving performance and data quality issues.
The Report Developer will perform unit testing and assist the Business Intelligence Analysts with integration, performance, and user acceptance testing. The candidate should be self-motivated and have a proven record of managing their own time and work. Will need to provide regular status reporting to their manager and be able to assess potential issues and risks to project timelines.
Responsibilities:
* Report design, development and deployment * Metadata elements (metrics, filters, prompts) design, development and deployment * Recommend appropriate scope of requirements and priorities * Work closely with BI Analysts in the testing, validation and delivery of new subject areas * Work with production data to validate business requirements * Validate that BI meets requirements and service levels * Validate and monitor data integrity and performance * Monitor and respond to global ticketing system (rotating on-call)
Qualifications:
* Bachelor´s Degree or equivalent years of experience * A minimum of 2 years of Microstrategy development experience * Experience with Cognos development a plus * Experience with Hyperion EPM (Interactive Reporting) a plus * Strong SQL skills a must, preferably in a Oracle environment (PL/SQL a big plus) * Advanced knowledge of Excel (pivots, data validation, lookup, macros) a must * Ability to balance solid strategic thinking and flawless execution in an extremely fast-paced environment * Experience reporting from high volume databases * Strong knowledge of Data Warehousing methodologies and concepts, including and not limited to: star schemas, snowflakes, ETL processes, dimensional modeling and reporting tools * Excellent analytical skills, the ability to integrate information from multiple sources to execute effectively and efficiently in a dynamic environment and pursue a proactive approach to problem solving * Strong exposure in data quality identification and remediation and data conversion requirements * Motivated, career-oriented, team player who is organized, professional and friendly * Able to work flexible hours as required by business priorities
