Position:
Wind River On-Board Field Engineer

Location:
Phoenix, AZ Area

Overview:
The Wind River On-Board Field Engineer provides ownership for the technical needs of Wind River's key board vendors and software partners participating in the Wind River On-Board program. Its charter is to train our partners on the best practices of how to integrate Wind River products with their products, the usage of Wind River's various validation tools to validate their software components adhering to the Wind River standard, and supporting the partner during the technical challenges they may face during this process.

The ideal candidate must be a team player who can accomplish goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment reporting to a remote manager. The primary function of this role is to marry Wind River and partner technologies into key high value add solutions.

Responsibilities:
· Help define and develop customized joint Embedded Development Kits (EDK)
· Act as technical escalation point of contact for the COTS board partners and ISV partners.
· Provide technical support to the partner during the different phases of self-validation.
· Provide meaningful, partner-centric feedback to Wind River engineering via formal and informal channels.
· Assist Wind River and partner's sales teams in seamless deployment of solutions to mutual customers.


Qualifications:
· BSCS/BSEE Degree Computer science, Engineering, or equivalent technical degree), MS preferred.
· 7+ years of embedded software design experience with uniformly increasing levels of responsibility
· A power user of one of the following processor architectures: IA, PowerPC, ARM, or MIPS with at list 3+ years of experience. Experience with Intel Atom/Core i5/Core i7 or Freescale E500/E500MC cores is recommended.
· Experience in the areas of real-time embedded software development at a system level (BSP, device drivers) and integration of middleware components.
· Strong embedded application experience with one or more of the following Embedded operating systems: VxWorks, Embedded Linux
· Experience with open source is recommended
· Strong C/C++ programming skills
· Experience working with Linux in a development environment is required, some system administration experience is desired
· Strong and effective written, verbal and presentation communication skills with the ability to work across multiple geographies
· Strong technical, analysis and problem solving skills
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
· Demonstrated successful consulting with customers, resolving complex problems and architecting solutions
· High level of self-motivation and requires minimal supervision
· Broad experience range covering a variety of systems, processors, and peripheral devices and experience working in multiple consumer, industrial or networking product areas
· Should be a hands-on type of person with the initiative to dive in and do whatever is necessary to get the task completed


Working Conditions:
· Depending upon the specific location of the candidate, some travel may be required (25%)

Reporting:
· The position reports to the Sr. Director Sales Operations Engineering.
