Systems Software Engineer needed for long term project work for Fortune 500 Client Company.
Client Company is stable and growing.
**Due to the nature of the interview process, local candidates with local experience only please (Local = San Francisco Bay Area)
This is a software engineering role requiring design, implementation and unit testing of production-quality software for Client Company's purpose-built storage appliance.
Responsibilities:
-Develop and maintain the Storage IO stack.
-Define Requirements, Design, Implement, Unit test and maintain product and platform features.
-Work collaboratively in design discussions and design/code reviews.
-Work with Linux-based platform to Develop software in C (System S/W Programming)
-Lead team projects and work independently
-Occasionally interact with HW vendors for debugging HW/SW issues
Required Experience:
-Extensive Experience in C and Scripting languages (Shell, Bash, or Python) and the Linux/UNIX programming environment.
-Experience with one or more storage protocols -- SCSI, SATA, SAS under Linux. Must have linux tool experience as well.
-Must have experience in performance or disk qualification with SSD's and/or HDD's
-Building and using HW diagnostics for a server class mother boards
-Linux device driver, Linux kernel expertise is a Plus - prefer block level device drivers.
-Strong HW and SW troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; ability to create efficient solutions to complex problems including SW workarounds to HW bugs.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent; Master of Science or higher preferred
