Performance Engineer needed for long term project work for Fortune 500 Client Company.

Client Company is stable, public, and growing.

**Due to the nature of the interview process, local candidates with local experience only please (Local = San Francisco Bay Area)

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

-Work with onboarding performance monitoring tools for support applications.

-Write Java script and scripts to build performance dashboards through Splunk

-Define and create performance alerts based on performance threshold

-Troubleshoot production performance and reliability issues with application and production support team

-Develop Understanding of Application characteristics including Business demand drivers, transaction metrics, utilization and response time requirements

-Create a Capacity Baseline and establish a repeatable process to track Capacity for new/existing Application Data -collection and Formatting.

-Maintain Data repository Data correlation and trending.

-Report any abnormal trends

-Utilize monitoring tools to track every day data and gather additional information required based on need

-Capacity and gather requirements for Forecasting.

Requirements:

-5 years + experience managing web based application or operations support teams in a 24/7 support environment.

-Minimum of 5 years of Unix/Linux experience: specifically system administration Java application servers (ex: JBoss, Tomcat, Jetty...)

-Expert level of Scripting skills or creating automation scripts. (either in Shell or perl or python java script)

-Hands-on experience strong troubleshooting skills monitoring and debugging java application servers

-Proven ability to provide analysis and support for large scale multi-tier application capacity and performance needs.

-Experience in using current performance as a baseline to determine what a system needs and when it needs it

-An understanding of performance testing methodologies for multi-tier web applications and using performance testing tool like JMeter or Load Runner

-Experience in using linux command line tools to parse, merge, analyze, and present performance data through the log file or realtime performance metrics.

-Ability to relate web data, visitors, Page views and URL hits etc.

-Strong analytical and problem solving skills while working independently and in a team environment
