Please direct your responses to: mike.garcia@marinsoftware.com

Application Reliability Engineer
Operations | San Francisco, CA, United States

(This position is also available at our New York or Baltimore locations)

Marin Software is a leading provider of online advertising management solutions, offering an integrated platform for managing search, display, and social marketing. The company provides solutions for advertisers and agencies of all sizes, enabling them to improve financial performance, save time, and make better decisions. Marin Enterprise, the company's flagship product, addresses the needs of online marketers spending at least $100,000 per month on biddable media. Marin Professional delivers the same power and ease of use as Marin Enterprise, through an application designed for marketers spending less than $100,000 per month on paid search. Headquartered in San Francisco, with offices worldwide, Marin's technology powers marketing campaigns for over 800 customers managing more than $2 billion of annualized ad spend in more than 160 countries. Marin has raised a total of $50MM in funding and has over 200 employees worldwide.

As we continue to expand, we are looking for an Application Reliabilty Engineer with strong scripting and SQL skills to help support Marin's SaaS platform. The Application Support team provides level-2 support for Marin Enterprise, often interacting directly with the underlying platform architecture to resolve customer issues. The team also provides feedback to Development to address recurring support tasks and issues within the platform itself. Strong debugging skills and an inquisitive mindset are essential for this position, and early and frequent communication of issues is a must.

Life is complicated enough without over-engineering things – our design philosophy is that simpler is usually better. Anything that needs to be done more than twice should probably be automated, and proper planning and testing mean less stress and fewer errors in times of pressing need. We strive to have an ego-free work environment. Above all, Operations is a close-knit team that depends on each other, and we're looking for people who have the skills, work ethic and sense of humor to help us grow and stay true to these values.

Responsibilities:
- Tracking and debugging of customer-related issues
- Proactive monitoring of application workflow and recurring customer processes
- Custom tools development for application monitoring and management
- Documentation of all application support processes and procedures
- Project ownership for all of the above
- Participation in 24x7 on-call rotation

Qualifications:
- Scripting chops in at least two of: perl, python, ruby, bash
- SQL expertise
- Experience with production java app server environments
- Experience in UNIX / linux environments (CentOS, debian/ubuntu)
- Compulsion to write things down and tell others what you did
- Proficiency with at least two of: git, svn, CVS, perforce
- Expert ability to get things done

Bonus Qualifications (nice to have):
- MySQL administration experience
- Previous experience in search marketing and/or SaaS
- Ability to juggle chainsaws and/or breathe fire

Compensation
Compensation levels are commensurate based on experience and skills. Marin Software was voted Best Places to work in the Bay area because of our people, fun work environment, stellar benefits. Marin pays 100% comprehensive health benefits (health, dental, vision), expenses 50% of commute cost to work, and provides generous PTO, equity, fully stocked kitchen and more. This is a full-time position at Marin Software headquarters in San Francisco's financial district. Marin values having teams working closely on-premise, so heavy telecommuting is discouraged. Marin Software is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to a diverse workplace.
