POSITION – PRODUCT MARKETING ANALYST
DURATION – 6 MONTHS +
LOCATION – San Jose, CA
Job Description
The incumbent is responsible for developing new forecast models for the Internet of Things. The Internet of Things is the network of physical objects accessed through the Internet that contain embedded technology to sense or interact with their internal states or the external environment. New experiences, operating efficiencies and business models can be created and deliver enhanced value through improved utilization of these physical assets. Product forecast will be used in making pre-launch, launch and post launch strategic decisions.
Primary duties and responsibilities - We are looking for individuals that have extensive experience and knowledge in building new product forecast.
1. Support the client's Global Market View Application, an internally derived opportunity sizing and forecasting tool. This tool is used in several planning activities including fiscal year planning as well as long range planning.
2. Develop forecast model using econometric, time series and bass diffusion methods
3. Understand the different variants in applying Diffusion Models and incorporate external influences in modeling besides the Basic Bass Model.
4. Design diffusion model with time varying parameters with macroeconomics and IT spending factors
5. In early stages of the PLC where available data are scarce, using estimation techniques to design model parameters
6. Apply Stochastic Model or Putsis model to further improve parameters of diffusion models
7. Incorporate trends, seasonality and product cycles in any dynamic model.
8. Improve on the existing tool/process including better understanding of technology adoption and the triggers that drive greater technology penetration.
9. Being able to socialize the results with stakeholders and receive their buy-in is an integral part of the process.
Experience and Education Requirements
1. The successful candidate will need strong SAS programming, Excel, and Access skills.
2. SAS programmer/modeler should have advanced training in a variety of statistical techniques
3. 5+ years of professional experience developing and deploying models on new product forecast, using diffusion, econometric, time series modeling, linear and non linear optimization
4. 5+ years experience using SAS and/or SAS EG and/or SAS EM and/or SAS OR and/or SAS Forecasting Studio/HPF.
5. Position requires a Masters degree in Economics, Statistics, Engineering or related field. PhD is preferred.
6. Ability to effectively communicate with business and technical professionals
7. Experience working with international macroeconomic data preferred.
8. Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills required to communicate analysis, findings and recommendations to customers. Ability to combine strong analytical skills with business knowledge.
9. Experience with gathering new business requirements and opportunities as well as project management experience are highly desirable.
