Join our talented team of Software Engineers in building the next generation of our flagship product the Navis™ SPARCS N4 terminal operating system (TOS). We are a mature profitable logistics software company operating worldwide. We build mission critical systems which enable the world economy. Most of the material goods in the world are moved in containers through our software at some point in time. The SPARCS N4 terminal operating system combines live production experience at more than 170 marine terminals in 50 countries with state-of-the-art software design.

We are a mature profitable logistics software company located waterside in historic Jack London Square accessible by ferry, BART, and Amtrak. We are building the next version of this system using the latest JEE and open source software technology. As part of that effort, we are looking for energetic, self-motivated, high quality software engineers for our software components that automate management of complex, real-time business processes. This position has unique opportunities for growth in both the functional and technical direction.

Responsibilities

Develop and support our optimization products in a test first environment. This includes:

• Design and develop new features for our optimization products

• Writing engineering specifications

• Providing estimate of work

• Coding and comprehensive unit testing

Job Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Operations Research, Artificial Intelligence or related analytical fields

• Deep experience with complex real-time business processes

• 5+ years software engineering experience

• Outstanding track record in enterprise-level full life-cycle applications development

• Strong knowledge of object-oriented design patterns and methodologies

• Proficient in Java

• Strong analytical problem solving skills

• Excellent communicator in written and spoken English

Preferred Skills and Knowledge Set

• Demonstrated skills in development of large-scale information systems

• Algorithm design and implementation experience with linear and combinatorial optimization, constraint programming, meta-heuristics and network flows

• Software architectural design and refactoring

• Working understanding of relational database management systems (RDBMS) and internet-related technologies including XML, JEE and Java Server applications

• Knowledge of or experience with supply chain management, advanced planning and scheduling, mathematical optimization, modeling and simulation a plus

Candidates need to be flexible and willing to work in a fast-paced environment with short release cycles.

Up to six weeks/year of international travel may be required.
