The Cloud Platform and Services organization is looking for a seasoned Senior Release Engineer at our Sunnyvale, CA location. This position calls for the application of your knowledge of software build and release methodologies as you will own the ongoing planning, build, packaging, dependency management, and release of software from multiple product teams. In addition, your development skills are required for designing and implementing tools to automate and measure the release engineering processes. Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with fellow release engineers on common design of release management planning, build, configuration, and deployment processes that support Yahoo's continuous integration goals.
• Represent Release Engineering in scrum teams with development, quality, and service engineers to define, align and support product release requirements.
• Create, manage, and support Cloud Services product builds and releases according to Yahoo best practices.
• Manage hardware, build environments and Jenkins jobs to support your product builds.
• Responsible for gathering, tracking, supplying and training of Yahoo's build & release tools and best practices that are required to develop and build software.
• Create software continuous integration, build, and deployment automation toward our goal of continuous deployment.

Minimum Job Qualifications
• Bachelor�s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
• 3 years relevant experience as a Unix/Linux Engineer
• Knowledge of SDLC, software configuration management practices, continuous integration / continuous delivery, and release management methodologies
• Contributed to software configuration/release processes that supported the dev, quality, and production roles
• Knowledge in maintaining GNU make or maven files
• Scripting competency in perl, shell, or python
• Knowledge of using a continuous integration tool, such as Jenkins, to create and manage jobs
• Working experience of at least one source control system such as git or svn.
• Strong communication skills and a desire to facilitate communications in a large work environment
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in team environments

Desired Skills:
• Strong Perl scripting experience
• Strong automation skills and the ability to turn manual processes into one click scripts
• Knowledge of Jenkins administration
• Knowledge of Java, C, or similar programming languages
• Knowledge of Unix system administration from OS installs to network troubleshooting
• Experience with Agile software development methodologies
• Experience writing GNU make and/or maven files
