Netflix is seeking a full stack Java/AWS engineer for the Content Platform Engineering team focused on Product Discovery, which includes iterations on merchandising pages with new assets. The Content Platform is the Content Management System and backend data store for all the metadata, video, and artwork that comprises the Netflix streaming service content.
The technology stack is Java with a mix of frameworks such as Cassandra, MySQL, Elastic Search, Grails, and Spring. We use an Agile development process talking constantly with our users while working on incremental feature development.
Responsibilities
- Work with product team on new merchandising campaigns and determine what backend changes are needed to compliment them
- Implement new features in our system from initial design through deployment
- Find opportunities for continuous improvements to our system
- Fix production issues and rework code, monitors, and alerts for high stability
- Learn and apply Netflix best practices across the entire stack
- Be part of the team
Qualifications
- 5+ years development experience Java, C# or any similar OO languages
- Experience in distributed and scalable design
- Experience in Concurrent and Event driven systems
- Experience with SQL and noSQL persistence
- Great communication skills
- Great thinking skills: can take complicated workflows and break them down into discrete, bite-size chunks to be delivered
Bonus
- Experience in solutions running in cloud (eg. AWS EC2 Cloud)
- UI development in modern frameworks (Grails, Node.js)
- Agile, Scrum, and Kanban
