Job Description:
Linux System Administrator needed for long term project work for Fortune 500 Client Company.
Client Company is stable, public, and growing.
**Due to the nature of the interview process, local candidates with local experience only please (Local = San Francisco Bay Area)
Responsibilities:
We are looking for an Intermediate/Advanced Linux System Administrator who will be responsible for supporting production engineering systems for eCommerce platform applications. This person will serve as a member of a dynamic engineering team who are responsible for the design, implementation, and support highly available internet applications. Duties involve hands-on hardware/software installation of new environments, enhancing and streamlining existing systems, the environment will exclusively rely upon Virtualization Technologies.
Required Skills:
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of writing justifications, training users in complex topics, making presentations to an internal audience, and interacting positively with upper management.
-Independent problem-solving, self-direction.
-Comfortable with most aspects of linux operating system administration; for example, configuration of mail systems, system installation and configuration, printer systems, fundamentals of security, installing third-party software.
-Has a solid understanding of a Unix based operating system; understands paging and swapping, inter-process communication, devices and what device drivers do, filesystem concepts (inode, clustering, logical partitions).
-Familiarity with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts
-Ability to write scripts in some administrative language (Perl, Python, Shell).
-5+ years of experience administering RedHat and/or CentOS.
-Must be able to troubleshoot complex issues quickly and effectively.
-Root cause and failure analysis to resolve system problems.
-5+ years of system administration experience
- 2+ years with Virtualization Technologies
Desirable Background and Skills:
-Linux Certified Engineer
-Experience assisting in the Administration of a large, complex site.
-Strong Experience with Virtualization Technologies
