IT Operations Manager / System Administrator

Our Software Environment:
• Hosted, web-based application accessed via browsers
• All Java: J2EE, servlets, JPA2, Weld
• Mostly open-source: Linux Professional, MySQL, Apache Wicket, PHP
• Fast-paced, rapid-release environment
Our Hardware Environment:
• Networking – Juniper
• Servers – Dell and Super Micro
• Hybrid infrastructure co-location with some cloud (Amazon EC2)
Responsibilities:
For this very critical infrastructure position we are seeking an engineer with top of the class skills and experience. As our IT Operations Manager and System Administrator you will:
• Architect and design production and development infrastructure solutions and implement those solutions
• Research and test new technologies to support architecture – be prepared to implement new technologies
• Develop plans for deploying services in an automated environment and implement those plans
• Build a secure and highly reliable infrastructure that meets EI3PA compliance, audited quarterly
• Manage and maintain effective work relationships with consultants, contractors and vendors – no direct reports
• Manage the health, availability and performance of our systems and the 24x7 support rotation
• Develop and implement operational processes, procedures and audits
• Report status and be able to communicate effectively to all levels of management
Requirements:
• Must have a start-up mentality and work ethic
• At least 5 years experience
• Linux Professional; knowledge of Ubuntu Linux a bonus
• Undergraduate degree required (or equivalent experience)
• You must be self-directed, self-motivated, committed
• Have the ability to adapt in a dynamic, fast-moving start-up environment
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong teamwork
• Quick learner
