About the Job
Akamai is looking for an experienced senior software quality assurance engineer with proven leadership, test and automation development skills to build system-level test automation and execute automated and manual tests. You will be responsible for testing the performance, reliability, scalability and functionality of Akamai's End-User Client download manager and peer-enabled content delivery solutions. The End-User Client SQA Team works closely with Development, Program Management and Operations to test some of the most innovated and scalable software solutions in the world.
About the Team
The System Quality Assurance group is responsible for extensive testing across all the technologies developed in Engineering. This group is knowledgeable about all these technologies and focuses on real-world, end-to-end testing to ensure all of Akamai´s systems integrate well. In addition, this group works on automated testing infrastructure and systematic test case tracking to increase efficiency within the quality assurance process.
Responsibilities:
* Work within a Quality Engineering team testing large-scale, distributed end-to-end client/server and peer-to-peer content delivery within a Windows/Mac/Linux (client) and Linux (server) environment.
* Implement in-depth understanding of SQA life-cycle from functional requirements gathering to the design and execution of automated and manual system level tests.
* Design testing tools which includes developing scripts and test tools to enhance regression testing.
* Perform and participate in all aspects of verification including requirements gathering, feature and functional testing, unit testing, regression, load and performance testing.
* Create and apply new approaches and concepts to improve the productivity and efficiency of testing practices.
* Develop creative and competent analysis to identify root causes of technical problems while developing resolutions.
* Design, develop, and deploy automated system tests to replicate real-world scenarios, topologies and conditions.
Basic Qualifications
* Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree with 5+ years of experience in a high tech environment.
* Minimum 3 years test or development experience in a Windows environment.
* Minimum 2 years test or development experience in a Linux/Unix environment.
* Minimum 2 years experience with client front-end GUI or browser-based testing.
* Minimum 2 years experience with back-end server-side testing (Linux/Unix environment preferred).
Desired Qualifications
* 7+ years of experience as an SQA Engineer.
* Minimum 3 years programming experience with Perl, C/C++, Java, shell scripting or other high-level programming language(s) required.
* Familiarity with Selenium RC, Selenium Grid or equivalent automation frameworks.
* Experience creating and executing scalable client-side performance test suites (especially automated suites) within a Windows and/or MacOS environment.
* Familiarity with networking protocols and technologies, proxies, hardware/software firewalls and other third-party routing & security products.
* Experience with large-scale, highly distributed systems, especially content delivery networks.
* Experience with peer-to-peer technologies.
* Experience with virtualization technologies (especially as applied to load/scalability testing and automated platform certification) .
* Solid testing/diagnosing/debugging skills (including performance, load, etc.) in a Windows client environment.
