[KITlist-Tech] Senior Technical Writer(s) (Silicon Valley, CA)

Please direct your responses to: jobs@xs.com

Expert Support is a company in Mountain View, California, that does contract technical writing for technology companies, most of which are located in Silicon Valley. We have about 25 writers working for us now, but we need more world-class - and we mean that literally - technical writers.

Most of our work is API documentation. We have a reputation in the valley of being the best place to go for technically capable writers. Most recently, we have gotten lots of requests for writers that are knowledgeable about web services and the technologies that enable them: PHP, Java, Javascript, SOAP, JSON, XML, RESTful application architecture, etc. If you are capable in these areas, please send us a resume as soon as possible.

In general, we need people who
-Can learn new software and software APIs quickly
-Enjoy learning new technology
-Aren´t afraid to ask engineers questions, but who try to figure stuff out for themselves first
-Understand the problems that developers have and how to write documents that help them solve those problems.
-Are very good at managing themselves and their own time
-Have a sense of humor and aren´t afraid to use it
-Can file weekly status reports that are concise and informative, but can also ask for help directly when help is needed
-Have a set of samples (or can write some) that we can show to clients

Some of our writers work full-time; some work part-time. Some work at home; some work at the client´s site. Some work year round; some take time off to go on long vacations. We don´t care about that stuff as long as you keep your clients happy and keep your commitments to them. We DO want people that can work independently for demanding clients building ground-breaking new products. We want people who are always open to criticism and to improving their skills. We want people who can argue about what the perfect API reference manual should look like and be precise and passionate about their arguments.

If you think you would be at home in a group like this, especially (but not only) if you have experience in web service technologies, please send a resume to the email address: jobs@xs.com.
