Network / Development Operations Engineer


Founded in late 2005, WebJuice (www.webjuice.com) is a fast-paced, systems-focused interactive media agency hell-bent on creating cutting-edge solutions to inefficiencies observed in common consumer verticals. We specialize in the identification of problems, incubation of solutions, implementation and improvement of tech-heavy processes, and we´re hungry for experienced individuals with a similar dedication to perfection to lend their talents to our cause.


We have an immediate need for a Network/Development Operations Engineer.

WE WILL ALSO CONSIDER HIRING SOMEONE WITH MUCH LESS EXPERIENCE.



Responsibilities:

• Implementation of Nagios monitoring and automatic diagnostics solutions.
• Network troubleshooting.
• Router configuration.
• Production application issues troubleshooting.
• Provide and support the implementation of business solutions.




Required Skills/Experience:


• BS/BA degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical training and professional work experience.
• 2 plus years of experience.
• In-depth knowledge of Linux operation and internals.
• Ability to write maintainable automation scripts in at least one shell dialect (bash, csh, zsh … ), and at least one high-level language (python, perl, ruby … )
• Not afraid of databases.
• Desire to trace issues across the entire technology stack.
• Time efficient in troubleshooting applications using a variety of tools.
• Experience with highly scalable production systems.
• Enjoys creating monitoring reports, graphs and general statistics.
• Excited about reacting to problems and finding workable solutions.
• Comfortable monitoring complex systems for uptime and performance.
• Ability to quickly write clear documentation and convey complex ideas.
• Ability to serve in on-call, after-hours support rotation.
• Ability to analyze log files and correlate system events across nodes.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Self-direction, perseverance, fast learning, good energy level, and positive attitude.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced start-up environment.
• Ability to work in a cooperative and team environment, as well as, the ability to work independently.




Desirable Skills/Experience:

• Relational database administration experience (MySQL and PostgreSQL)
• Development and/or Network engineering experience.
• Experience supporting software developers.
• Experience working with high-availability systems.
• Ability to understand and compose simple SQL queries.
• Ability to quickly deploy off-the-shelf free software solutions to common problems.
• QA and testing experience.
• Experience working in a production datacenter.
• Experience at a startup environment.
