You're an experienced Sr. Unix Systems Administrator for SaaS environments, and have a proven background in a variety of technologies and products. As a Unix Systems Administrator at Elance, you will play a major role in maintaining and improving upon our technical foundation. Here's what you need to know:

Your Responsibilities:

•Responsibility for the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of entire systems and network infrastructure
•Maintain server and network uptime consistent with corporate goals and metrics
•A high level of proficiency with deployment, configuration, management, troubleshooting and tuning of Linux, Apache, and other Open Source SW for high volume SaaS websites
•Provide 24x7 support for production infrastructure
•This position will require some after hours and weekend support

Your Qualifications:

•5+ years of experience in Linux (CentOS, Red Hat) system administration
•University degree in Computer Science or similar field of study
•Systems installation and configuration, troubleshooting, security management
•Planning and installation of third party software
•The operation of a large-scale web-based SaaS system with 1M+ visitors/week
•Demonstrated expertise in system performance profiling and performance tuning in a Linux/UNIX environment
•Troubleshooting applications stack with Linux, Apache, PHP/Perl
•Deploying and managing Monitoring Tools (BB, MRTG)
•The use and administration of Veritas Netbackup for backup and tape libraries and offsite tape rotation
•Performing small helpdesk roles on windows for user trouble shooting, the majority on Unix
•Understanding protocols such as DNS, HTTP, SSH, SMTP
•Linux RedHat5 and/or CentOS5
•Shell scripting in Bash and moderate Perl
•Basic Networking (DSL, T1)
•Apache/PHP (LAMP stack)
•Linux software raid and LVM setup
•Virtualization using CentOS XEN
•PHP/Perl installation
•NFS setup and administration in a cluster
•Outstanding troubleshooting skills and intellectual curiosity
•Strong written and verbal communications skills
