Department Overview
The Data Loss Prevention (DLP) product suite is key to Symantec's vision of information-centric security. The Symantec DLP solution discovers, monitors and protects confidential data to help organizations ensure public confidence, demonstrate compliance and maintain competitive advantage. Symantec DLP customers include many of the world´s largest enterprises and government agencies. The Symantec DLP Engineering team is headquartered in downtown San Francisco, within easy walking distance from BART and CalTrain.
Responsibilities
• Develop high-quality product documentation content for a diverse audience, including information security specialists, system administrators, and developers
• Produce technically precise and well-written topics for use in online help, book-length guides, and knowledge base articles
• Work with product managers, engineers, and professional services staff to gather content; proactively engage with subject matter experts
• Represent the interests of the Information Development team in cross-functional team meetings
• Work closely with other writers to develop team processes
• Play a key role in helping evolve the product information architecture
• Provide input to improve the user interface and overall user experience of DLP
• Test deliverables with customers and internal staff and incorporate feedback

Qualifications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience documenting enterprise software, especially security solutions
• Five+ years information development experience
• Experience developing documentation for both print and online delivery
• Knowledge of or experience with topic-oriented writing
• Experience with content management systems and producing documents in XML
• Self-starter – ability to quickly learn new tools and products
• Excellent time management skills to multitask across multiple simultaneous projects
