Department Overview
The Data Loss Prevention (DLP) product suite is key to Symantec's vision of information-centric security. Continuing to build upon the success of the Vontu acquisition in late 2007, the products have shown enormous success as a business unit within Symantec, growing revenue at >20% annually. The Symantec DLP solution discovers, monitors and protects confidential data to help organizations ensure public confidence, demonstrate compliance and maintain competitive advantage. Symantec's solution is the clear market leader with 3X the revenue of the nearest competitors, and named as the leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for 5 years in a row. Symantec DLP customers include many of the world´s largest enterprises and government agencies. The Symantec DLP Engineering team is headquartered in downtown San Francisco, within easy walking distance from BART and CalTrain.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate with other developers, designers, QA engineers, and product managers to architect and implement new product features
• Contribute to team mission to integrate user experience elements with engineering processes
• Participate in planning and roadmap discussions
• Identify refactoring needs e.g. to enable feature development or to meet evolving design standards
• Participate in regular design and code reviews
• Lead engineering process improvements
• Investigate and resolve customer escalations
• Work on cross functional projects
• Mentor junior engineers
Qualifications
• 4-6 years of industry experience
• Strong object-oriented programming skills (Java preferred), C++, .Net
• Good understanding of software design patterns
• Excellent communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively on cross-functional teams
• Minimum 2 years of UI/front-end development experience
• Comfortable working with customers
• B.S. in Computer Science or related discipline
• Solid understanding of software security principles preferred.
