Position requires strong prototyping experience in an EE and MechEng environment – possibly with a scientific background prior to extensive industrial product development experience.
Position may also suit a practical EE working with a commercial architecture practice.
Our client, a leading organic photovoltaic module producer, seeks a motivated, hands-on Product Development Engineer.
The company develops and manufactures organic thin-film photovoltaic film that is lightweight, flexible and versatile. This material makes it possible for devices, systems and structures to have their own embedded sources of renewable power.
They are a leading clean-technology company with a world-class technical team, a broad investor group and partnerships with global leaders in this space
Our client has business operations, R&D and manufacturing located in the United States, Germany and Austria and sales offices and distribution in Japan, USA, Australia, Europe, China and the Middle East.
Responsibilities:
• Lead efforts to gain certification for solar products, including coordination with certification bodies and overall project management
• Use knowledge of Building Industry to provide guidance on codes and certification requirements for solar use in BIPV
• Help to define new solar product design inputs
• Design electrical connectors for solar modules in various applications
• Produce engineering drawings
• Coordinate and perform product testing
• Provide engineering and other assistance as required
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical or materials engineering, Master's degree preferred
• Minimum of five years of experience in product development, engineering design or construction engineering and a solid background in
electrical engineering
• Hands-on experience prototyping new products
• Experience with commercial buildings from engineering or architectural standpoint preferred
• Working knowledge of SolidWorks or AutoCAD. Proficiency in Excel
• Experience in solar industry, particularly BIPV, preferred
• Product management and/or project management experience desirable.
• Experience with certification bodies, such as UL, IEC preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work within time constraints
