SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Sr Director of Engineering, the Staff Engineer is responsible for developing tools and algorithms for cleaning, standardizing and the analysis of our list data and DNS data. The Data Engineer will be responsible for refining the classification of DNS data to be used for deterministic and predictive analytics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
⁃ Become an expert in our data sets, both raw DNS log data and our list data
⁃ Develop the tools to aid in the extraction of meaningful insights to the very large amount of data we work with
⁃ Work with our 3rd party list providers to clean and improve the accuracy of the data
⁃ Design and implementation of tools to analyze very large dataset of raw data
⁃ Interact with the other development teams to determine the data required for our analytics platform
⁃ Coordinate feature development and release with the QA team and release engineering
QUALIFICATIONS:
⁃ Expertise with C++/Java, with knowledge of Python
⁃ Solid understanding of Data Warehousing/Business Intelligence systems
⁃ Experience with data mining and analysis
⁃ Experience with any one of the following a plus (text mining, natural language processing, information retrieval, etc.)
⁃ Experience with web crawling/scraping technologies
⁃ Knowledge of database systems (MySQL, NoSQL, etc.) a plus
⁃ Outstanding organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
⁃ Clear written and oral communication skills
Education and/or Experience:
⁃ BA/BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field
⁃ 4+ years of experience in software design and development
Graduate level data analytics/research desirable
