Our client is a Global Audio company who makes many audio products, as well as a few telephony products. They are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to add to their R&D team in beautiful Boulder, CO.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for conceptualization, design, and implementation of mechanical components and assemblies to support product development by performing hands-on design work as well as guiding the work of others. The candidate brings a broad technical background that includes simulation, prototyping, testing, and analysis.

Specific Duties include:

Use Creo 2.0 CAD software to design and develop mechanical components.

Provide structural and thermal analysis of parts and assemblies.

Produce engineering documentation.

Work with vendors and company manufacturing representatives to launch products into production.

Coordinate with the Senior Engineering Manager, Project Managers, and Industrial Designers, to help define new product requirements.

Design all mechanical aspects of products (assemblies, parts, drawings), including sheet metal, injection-molded plastic, castings, and wood components.

Work within and vault all mechanical data in Windchill throughout the product lifecycle.

Work closely with Acoustic Engineers in the development of enclosures, baffles, and high-frequency waveguides.

Coordinate and lead mechanical design efforts on multiple projects to ensure the on-time delivery of high quality designs.

Oversee efforts to ensure that products and designs satisfy the business and functional constraints and requirements.

Coach, mentor and collaborate with design staff at all levels to drive continuous improvement in technology development, product development, and engineering processes and capabilities.

Manage relationships with outside design services, contract manufacturers, and suppliers.

Develop and implement standards and best practices for mechanical design.



B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Master's degree preferred.

Minimum of 10 years work experience as a Mechanical Engineer in a product development company.

High skill level with PTC Creo 2.0 Parametric software including Surface Design and Top-Down Modeling.

Experience creating high quality 3D CAD models in Creo 2.0 that meet requirements for fit, function, manufacturability, quality, and cost.

Strong time management skills.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in small, cross-functional teams.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English language.

Self-motivated; Ability to complete project goals with minimal supervision.

Excellent problem solving skills.

A high degree of creativity and originality.

Ability to work in fast paced environment to produce multiple iterations and rapid prototypes.

Willingness and ability to adapt to change.

High attention to detail and quality of work.

Understanding of manufacturing principles and processes.

Working knowledge of SolidWorks desirable.

Audio product knowledge and experience desirable.

Design experience with:

Electronic assemblies, integration of PCBs and wire routing

Plastics and injection molded parts

Sheet metal enclosures

Wood panels and joinery

Extrusions

Analysis experience with:

Thermal, preferably with CFDesign/Autodesk Simulation

Structural, preferably with Mechanica/Creo Simulate

Moldflow, preferably with Moldex3D
