Under the direction of the Information Technology (IT) Manager, the Network Engineer will work within the IT team to provide network configuration and maintenance for the TCP/IP WAN/LAN. The network engineer is expected to provide network configuration, security, monitoring, and support for network equipment and associated enterprise monitoring tools.
Network Engineer responsibilities and requirements include:
•Network system administration of router, switch, firewalls, and anti-spam appliance.
•Demonstrated experience configuring, monitoring, and tuning WAN/LAN network devices to optimize network performance and assure network security in a high availability environment.
•Demonstrated ability to configure and manage Cisco 7204, 3825, 3945 routers and 3750 data and power stack switches in a 10/100/1000 multi VLAN distributed network.
• Demonstrated experience configuring VLAN´s, defining ACL's and assuring WAN availability and optimal throughput via the use of BGP, OSPF, and HSRP.
•Utilize Network Instruments Observer and Observer Infrastructure Enterprise (or similar) network monitoring tools.
•Network systems planning and diagramming Visio for documentation.
•Experience with IOS, Cisco configuration utilities; network monitoring software, Cisco Smartnet.
•Demonstrated experience using a protocol analyzer to identify and resolve network issues, communication port identification, and network usage trends.
•Experience with LAN hardware including patch panels, Fiber Optic, Cat5e and Cat 6 wiring.
•Support and maintain SSL VPN, VPN tunnel, and Cisco client remote access.
•Interact with telecom provider to report, troubleshoot, and install service upgrades.
Preferred Skills
•CCNP and CCDP certification.
•Experience performing network administration duties in an environment with UNIX, Linux, Windows 2008 server, MS Active Directory, SMTP and MS Exchange environment.
•Experience providing network support in a high availability environment.
