The Senior Developer of Retail Applications develops, tests, deploys and maintains software applications that support all operational activities for the advertising, marketing, merchandising and retail operations functions. This includes applications POS, backdoor functions, pricing, loyalty and promotion plus more. This position is first and foremost a developer, but also able to gather requirements, perform analysis, plan and execute an implementation and rollout, manage vendor relations/partnerships, and perform quality assurance testing. This position provides technical analysis, troubleshooting and solutions to issues as they arise, and also recommends, develops, tests and implements modifications to supported systems to improve cost effectiveness and efficiency.
Education Requirement: Four-year degree (or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education, specialized training, or additional job experience).
Knowledge of: Strong background in computer programming (Unix shell scripting), system development life cycle including testing, troubleshooting and implementation; strong knowledge and experience with SQL databases (such as Oracle, SQL Server); familiarity with Cobol, Sterling or other EDI mapping software.
Skills and Abilities: Excellent analytical, planning and organization/time management skills. Strong communication skills (verbal and written), including the ability to work with people from all departments in the company who have varying degrees of computer/technology knowledge.
Work Experience: Minimum of three years related experience in programming and support of various software packages. Experience required in a multi-discipline project and troubleshooting environment.
Other: This position will be part of a rotating on-call team, providing around the clock support. Occasional travel required. Background screen required.
