All products support today´s precise timing standards, including GPS-based timing, IEEE 1588 (PTP), Network Time Protocol (NTP), Synchronous Ethernet and DOCSIS® timing.
Symmetricom seeks an Embedded Software Engineer to work with the SoftClock team to design, develop, modify and enhance software systems for this product family.
Responsibilities for this key career role include:

*Designing and implementing embedded software for synchronization applications
*Working with internal developers to review software design and develop unit test plans
*Running tests to verify product meets performance requirements
*Working on OEM customer technical issues related to integration and verification
*Porting synchronization software to customer target environments

Preferred Experience Requirements:

*BS degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics
*Minimum of 3 years of software design experience with at least 2 years writing programs for embedded Linux or RTOS
*Solid programming experience in C and C++ with emphasis on embedded systems
*Hands on experience with embedded development environment and tool chain
*Understanding of embedded system design concepts – threads, drivers, interrupts, priority handling, etc.
*Strong written, verbal, collaboration communication and team relationship skills.

Experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas is desirable but not required:

*Packet network time synchronization protocols, such as NTP and IEEE-1588
*Wireless communication systems and networks
*FPGA development or interfacing
*Understand hardware subsystems, interfaces and hardware debugging method
