This position is in a Build Infrastructure & Technologies Team, which is responsible for improving the build system for large embedded software projects. Goal is to ensure that build platform continues to scale in terms of reliability, performance and ease of use.
Job Duties:
a. Design, develop, improve and fix the build systems to let us scale over multiple products
b. Work with Technical Leads across multiple Business Units to architect and develop the build system
c. Explore, evaluate and deploy industry state of art build technologies
d. Follow very strong, high quality internal Software Development practices
e. Evangelize the best build practices to the thousands of strong software developers
Required Experience and Skills:
* Demonstrated ability to architect, develop and deploy build systems for large scale embedded products
* Expertise in Linux packages and distributions mechanisms.
* Strong programming abilities - grasp of data structure and algorithm fundamentals
* Expertise in any of the scripting languages like Python or Perl
* Extremely comfortable in working in a Linux/Solaris build and development environment
* 8+ yrs build and software engineering experience, in large enterprise environment
* Overall understanding of various tools and processes involved in Enterprise Level Software Development
* Able to represent the team externally and communicating technical designs to other technical leads
* Good understanding of GNU make, knowledge of other build system like maven, emake, etc
* Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skill
* Strong oral and written communication skills
Highly desired skills:
* Experience producing and supporting one of the Linux OS distribution (i.e., RHEL, SuSE, Debian, MonteVista)
* Expertise in various build tools and technologies like Team Builder, cccahe, Hudson would be a plus
* Experience in building & supporting GNU and FSF tools in a heterogeneous development environment
Educational background:
BS degree in Engineering , Master degree preferred
