Title: Websphere Portal engineer
Location: San Jose, CA
Duration: 6+ months contract, renewed quarterly
We have an immediate need for a Portal Engineer with the following skills:
- Portal engineer will implement, create and customize a centralized, enterprise-class internal and external portal environment, to enable improved commerce capabilities and end user experience.
- The portal will be implemented in an infrastructure environment and integrated with Websphere Application Server using both Websphere and Liferay portals.
- The selected individual must have strong experience, implementing Portal in an enterprise scale infrastructure environment and J2EE development experience.
Responsibilities include:
- Integration of portals into Websphere Application Server 6.1 and overall infrastructure
- Development of tools and scripts to provision, monitor, and manage the enterprise environment
- Deployment of the portlets and the portal applications.
- Vendor bug research, testing of fixes, and resolution
- Responsible for responding to infrastructure issue alerts
- Solve complex, cross-functional issues that cross many groups
- Participate in implementation and design reviews, and contribute to scalability and load tests of the environment.
Required skills:
Solid understanding and proven experience in building multi-threaded server side applications
- 7-10 years of total IT experience
- Previous involvement in the full lifecycle of several complex web applications
- Solid understanding and proven experience with building distributed Java systems
- Application Server Experience with Web Sphere
- Strong Knowledge of Core java, JSP, JSF, JMS, SOAP, XML, JDBC, JTA, JNDI
- Solid understanding and proven experience with SOA technology
- 5+ years of experience working in enterprise scale Unix infrastructure environments
- Liferay Extended Deployment and Portal Dynamic Clustering
- Websphere Application Server administration experience would be a big plus
- Scripting - Perl, Unix Shell
Desired Skills:
- Jacl, Jython, xmlaccess, wpconfig, wsadmin
- LDAP, SiteMinder
- Portlet Development, Themes, and Skins
