Overview
SugarSync is looking for a motivated Java Web Engineer with a passion for web technologies. You will be a key technical contributor to our web engineering team, assisting with the creation of new features and scaling and maintaining our web application. In this role you will also have the opportunity to work closely with operations to help ensure the stability of the service. We use a Tomcat, Hibernate, Spring MVC stack and are interested in people who can do UI work as well as working on some of the backend supporting infrastructure and troubleshooting issues.

Experience
• Required:
o 5+ years of related development experience building scalable web applications
o Superb Java, JavaScript, AJAX and HTML skills
o Comfortable troubleshooting issues on LINUX
o Experience configuring and tuning Tomcat and Apache HTTP Servers
o Deep understanding of designing modular and object-oriented applications with server-side web frameworks like JSP and Spring
o SQL and DB Schema Design experience
o Good understanding of performance and scalability issues of Web Applications
o Knowledge of implementing cross-browser CSS
• Desired:
o Familiar with JQuery and DWR
o Experienced in writing database applications using MySQL and Hibernate
o Background in web security
o Experience with template frameworks such as Tiles
o Past experience with Quartz job scheduling framework
o Past startup experience working on a high profile web service
o Some experience with writing interesting Flash or Flex applications
Skills
• Proven ability to deliver complex projects on time
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
• Ability to work directly with QA, Operations and Product Marketing teams
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Willingness to learn and to teach
Education
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
