metrology industries. Symmetricom´s customers, from communications service
providers and network equipment manufacturers to governments and their suppliers
worldwide, are able to build more reliable networks and systems by using the
company´s advanced timing technologies, atomic clocks, services and solutions.
All products support today´s precise timing standards, including GPS-based
timing, IEEE 1588 (PTP), Network Time Protocol (NTP), Synchronous Ethernet and
DOCSIS® timing.


Located in San Jose, CA, we are in search of an Applications Engineer to join
our Embedded Software Product Management Team. The Application Engineer is
paramount to driving sales and influencing the growth and future of our embedded
software synchronization solutions. This position will develop new businesses
at both semiconductor and telecom equipment manufacturing companies. The
successful candidate must work closely with Symmetricom customers, engineering
and sales teams to provide detailed direction and solutions. Important
attributes are excellent communication and presentation skills, as well as the
capability to build customer specific solutions.

Job Description

* Design examples development using Symmetricom SoftClock highlighting product
features
* Build technical documentation such as user guides, tutorials, application
notes for key features and applications of these examples
* Develop and maintain technical expertise in assigned areas of product
functionality and utilize that expertise effectively to help customers
* Develop internal technical training material
* Provide product planning and enhancements feedback to marketing and
engineering
* Develop specifications and aid in development of Technical PRDs
* Work with customers and ecosystem partners to debug escalated issues


Minimum Requirements

* B.S. Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 8
years relevant experience or MS with minimum of 5 years relevant experience
* Strong embedded OS SW, Linux, and firmware experience
* Experience writing C/C++ for embedded systems
* Experience in building embedded solutions
* Well versed in building documentation and training
* Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
* Previous experience with Linux based solutions and the integration of object
code
* Solid Project Management experience


Desired Qualifications

* Experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas is desirable
but not required:
* Packet network time synchronization protocols, such as NTP and IEEE-1588
* Wireless communication systems and networks
* FPGA development or interfacing
* Understand hardware subsystems, interfaces and hardware debugging method
