Job Title:- Sr. Network Engineer
Duties
- The Network & Security operation team acts as technical authority on matters related to the engineering & operation of Authentication global network, and implementing security best practices.
- The candidate will work within a team environment to continually evolve network & security infrastructure to support the complete breadth of Authentication product line.
- The candidate will work with internal operational and product development teams and act as the subject matter expert on issues related to routers, switches, firewalls, load-balancers, and other associated infrastructure as it relates to Authentication business production.
- The individual should be highly motivated; results oriented; have excellent communication, writing, presentation, and troubleshooting skills.
- The position will also be responsible for working with a team of engineers in other disciplines to provide complex and secured infrastructures for new and existing projects.
- To qualify for this opportunity, candidates must have the right balance of the problem solving abilities, technical hands-on analysis and operation skills and have the ability to document new and existing infrastructures.
- The Network Engineer will participate in 24x7 on-call rotation to respond to critical customer issues and questions.
- Exceptional problem solving and multi-tasking skills are essential.
- The candidate must have the ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, while effectively managing priorities.
- The candidate must be an expert in the areas of security & network operation, and router, switch and firewall configuration, troubleshooting.
Skills
- Bachelor or Masters in Computer Science with 10+ years of industry experience in related areas.
- The candidate must be extremely knowledgeable in Data Center Planning and designing and must have experience in building Data Center and Service Provide network.
- The candidate must be extremely knowledgeable and conversant with modern Internet routing architectures, including BGP, OSPF, MPLS and IS-IS. Further, the candidate must be familiar with complex layer 2 Ethernet topologies and associated protocols, including 802.1q, 802.3ad, 802.1d, 802.1w, 802.1s, PVST+ and 802.3af.
- The candidate should have experience dealing with complex multivendor layer 2/3 and 4-7 environments, including Cisco IOS and Nexus switches, Juniper, Brocade, Citrix , F-5, and Redware.
- Familiarity with both layer 2/3-only routers and switches and layer 4-7 load-balancing devices is required, as well as experience with stateful firewall deployments and large-scale IPSEC implementations.
- Additionally, the candidate should be comfortable designing and implementing test plans to certify hardware & software for use within the Symantec network.
- The candidate should be comfortable designing systems and configurations to detect and mitigate complex and often unpredictable traffic anomalies, to include the use of IDS/IPS devices, packet sniffers, flow-based tools and traditional MPLS and BGP-based traffic engineering measures.
- The candidate should have experience designing and implementing large-scale datacenter cable and network plant designs to support extremely high-availability products.
- The candidate should have experience developing network management tools to analyze traffic characteristics, assess network and device health, and assist with implementing tool interoperability.
- Desired languages: PERL, JavaScript, C/C++.
