Product Security Analyst/Hacker
Our Silicon Valley client has engaged us to develop their growing team. We are looking for a junior colleague (a recent grad or perhaps someone in a masters program) to join their team of security specialists. The work environment is informal. You will use a variety of techniques, including penetration testing, hardware hacking and software reverse engineering, to discover a product's fraud risk profile to enable improving its security.

Our client is an internationally acknowledged company specialising in the security analysis of smart cards and embedded devices. Their knowledge in the field of data security brings customers from all over the world including microchip manufacturers, financial institutions, and others. Most customers are large, international organisations based in North America, Europe, and Asia. It is very important to be able to provide these customers with high-quality, professional services.

The Role

You will be part of a small, highly specialised company with an informal working environment, ensuring that your work is varied and that you have direct contact with every layer within the organisation.
Evaluate the security of products that use smart-card and embedded technologies. This includes analysing threats and weaknesses, defining and implementing (i.e. programming) the appropriate tests, running the tests, and analysing the results.
Carry out various types of security analysis, including architecture evaluation, logical and hardware penetration tests, source code evaluation, and side channel analysis.
Report results describing weaknesses found as well as their impact; give recommendations for solving these problems.
Carry out other projects, including consultancy work, research, tool development, and training.
Record the knowledge gained during a project in the corporate database to ensure it is preserved and shared.
Collaborate on internal R&D projects such as the development and improvement of evaluation tools, research into possible security risks of new technology, and the development of new forms of attack.

Your qualifications

BSCS or EE
broad interest in information security issues and electronic equipment
well-developed sense of relevance/importance to enable you to correctly assess the value to the customer of any problems you detect as they relate to the customer
good command of English, both verbally and written.
good social skills and enjoy collaborating in a multidisciplinary team of security specialists.
