Title: Hadoop Administrator
Location: San Jose, CA

The Hadoop Administrator is responsible for the enterprise-wide administration of the Hadoop infrastructure as it relates to a Big Data Ecosystem.

Responsibilities include Hadoop administration, database administration, architectural design, development, integration, and support. The candidate must have very good verbal and written communication skills.

Hadoop Administrator Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and manage data on Hadoop cluster
End-to-end performance tuning of Hadoop clusters and Hadoop Map/Reduce routines against very large data sets
Monitor Hadoop cluster job performance and capacity planning
Manage nodes on Hadoop cluster
Hadoop cluster connectivity and security
Software installation and configuration
Software patches and upgrades
Resolve configuration issues with Apache add-on tools
Troubleshoot Hadoop issues with other dbas/developers

EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
2+ years DBA experience with multi-terabyte Hadoop/MapReduce Infrastructure and associated Apache projects
SQL skills (including analytical functions) required
Strong experience in UNIX required, including command line editors, scripting (shell, Python, Perl, etc.)
Hadoop skills (Java, HBase, Hive, Pig, Mahout, etc.)
Experience with a variety of file formats (XML, JSON, unstructured data, etc.)
