Principal Architect – Linux Kernel

Company Description

Very exciting, fast growing, 3 ½ year old start- up company currently in stealth mode, developing interesting SoCs & platforms in a close collaboration with various partners and customers. Company has just closed a large round of financing and has solid financial backing from large corporate and financial investors that gives us several years of runway. Founded by an experienced team with many industry notables involved in various capacities. Company currently employs approximately around 50 people in US and we are ramping up the team to 75 within the coming months. Company has a strong R&D presence outside the US.

Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for architecting the Linux Kernel to work on the company's proprietary hardware platform. The hardware platform comprises of a lot of innovative components and will require Linux modifications touching almost all hardware specific kernel modules. An expertise in the Power Management architecture of Linux kernel is a big plus as the group is thinking of some innovative Power Management Architectural development in the Linux Kernel using their proprietary hardware platform.
Requirements
 10+ years of relevant industry experience in developing/hacking Kernel Modules and Device Drivers.
 Experience in Various Hardware Modules/Architectures of Linux Kernel including PCI/PCIe/Interrupts/Timers/Other Devices.
 Thorough knowledge of Linux Kernel's CPU specific modules
 Good to have Power Management and ACPI Driver Development experience in the Linux kernel
 Should have expertise in ARM and x86 architectures
 Good to have Linux Kernel Hypervisor (KVM) expertise and knowledge of Hardware Assisted Virtualization techniques
 Very strong C programming skills. Adequate assembly programming skills.
 The candidate should be a go-getter and should be able to work in a challenging and fast paced environment
