VICE PRESIDENT OF ENGINEERING
Overview
The VP of Engineering will lead SunRun's software development and quality assurance teams; work with the product management team to develop world class products; and partner with the executive leadership team on overall business success. The executive will create a strong culture of innovation that attracts entrepreneurial talent and build an organization capable of sustaining high levels of growth year-over-year.

This means that not only does our Engineering team work on challenging software architecture and scaling issues, but our efforts make the world a better place - one solar system at a time. Opportunity
You will lead the team responsible for building and scaling SunRun´s hosted quoting engine, consumer-facing website, data/pricing analytics, and remote metering software. We develop in Java, Javascript, and PHP, and integrate with a number of third-party web services. We also leverage a number of open source platforms and frameworks. The executive will mentor and expand the Engineering and IT teams to evolve with the Company´s increasing scope and scale.

Responsibilities
• Lead and expand the SunRun platform engineering team, beginning with the current team of technical leads and developers.

• Gather requirements and build, deliver, and scale SunRun´s software platforms, including our backend service architecture as well as our frontend web applications both of which are critical technical parts of the company´s success.

• Work closely with the marketing team, financial modeling group, and operations team to ensure that the SunRun technology platform is evolving to meet the needs of its customers.

• Set the technical direction for the team, drive the evolution of the systems architecture, and make appropriate technology choices.

• Take a hands-on approach to the entire software development life-cycle: develop project and resource plans / schedules; perform day-to-day project management to ensure successful, on-time releases; assist the team in accomplishing all tasks; demonstrate ownership and accountability for the entire product delivery process.

• Work effectively with product managers, project managers, engineers, and the senior management team to allocate engineering resources appropriately across various projects, juggling current customer/prospect needs with longer term product roadmap needs (weighing, balancing, & communicating the tradeoffs as necessary).

• Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, speed, innovation, excellence and fun,s while continuously elevating the quality and caliber of our product development organization.

Requirements
• A Bachelor´s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
• 15 years total experience building engineering teams and leading them in rapid development cycles.
• Demonstrated experience leading the design, development, delivery, support and maintenance of large scale, high performing, technically complex, reliable and robust engineering architecture.
• Demonstrated track record of successfully hiring, motivating, retaining and effectively deploying talented software developers to perform against aggressive delivery goals.
• Knowledge of release management and deployment workflow processes, from development release through staging and production deployment.
• Ability to evangelize and sell stakeholders across the company on key engineering priorities and how they connect with larger company initiatives.
• Experience making major investment decisions for third party tools or technologies, build vs. buy, and fund or not fund decisions.
• Demonstrated success in building and polishing small, agile, pioneering engineering teams and leading them to success in unexplored markets
• Experience adopting, rejecting, and adjusting processes like XP, Scrum and Kanban
• Expert in leading and growing teams in a fast paced, growing environment.
• A thorough understanding of web services architecture and commonly employed technologies.
• Excellent communication skills; strong team player, including the ability to work cross functionally in a fast-paced, limited resource environment.
• Thrives in a culture of experimentation, high productivity, and relaxed fun.
• Knowledge of statistics, scaling of billings systems, and/or finance a plus
• Ability to start "yesterday" a big plus
