Job Title:- "Senior Engineer- Linux"

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1.1 Assess Current Functionality
The Contractor must be able to assess and document how the current kernel modifications work today with limited current documentation or in-house expertise. This includes, but is not limited to:

•Inspection of design documents.
•Inspection of source code
•Development against source code.
•Lab installation of product.
•Regression testing/POC of lab installation.

1.2 Assess and recommend approach tied to hardware transition.
The Contractor must be able to evaluate a specific Dell server transition, and recommend the timeliest and most risk adverse approach for ensuring that the product can continue to function on the new hardware. Options May include:
•Back port any new drivers or functionality into existing kernel.
•Upgrade kernel and or drives, and forward port existing kernel modifications into new kernel.
•Make necessary application or Linux OS changes.

1.2.1 Hardware Transition Planning
Once a recommendation is made, Contractor must draw up appropriate planning documentation which at minimum must include:
•1 or more Functional Specification documents which outline detail the changes required.
•A detailed project plan outlining milestones and time to complete tasks associated with the effort.
•Any 3rd party components and licensing terms.

1.2.2 Kernel Modification
Contractor must be able to complete the following services with no assistance.
•Back port any new drivers or functionality into existing kernel.
•Upgrade kernel and or drives, and forward port existing kernel modifications into new kernel.

1.2.3 Linux OS Changes / Packages
Contractor must make all necessary changes to the Linux operating system in order to operate with the Kernel, Hardware and monitoring functions of the appliance.

1.2.4 Application Modification
Contractor must make all necessary changes to the user mode applications to ensure all functions of the product work properly after making any Kernel modifications.

1.2.5 Build & Packaging Capabilities
Contractor must be able to independently build and package any components requiring modification, such that they can be consumed by Company Engineering in both source and pre-packaged forms.

Duration:- 7+ months
