Position: Sys Admin/Network Admin
Location: San Jose, CA
Duration: 6 months, w/ likelihood of extension

Description:
This is a system and network administrator position. Candidate is responsible for monitoring the systems on a day to day basis to ensure the network is up and running all the time. Strong understanding of - OSI Layer 2 and 3 switching/routing (OSPF, EIGRP and TCP/IP Protocols) is required. Maintain the network by performing the necessary maintenance to support the availability and functionality of the network´s hardware (routers, switches and Solaris, Linux and windows machines etc) and monitoring the network´s performance (traffic, bandwidth, capacity).

Job Duties -
- Monitor stability and performance of all systems
- Provide support for common administrative tasks
- Diagnose, correct and document system level problems
- Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes
- Rack space planning, management and cabling, mounting of various devices
- Management of IP address space for the environment, including public and private addresses
- Able to Lift 30-40 Pounds Lab equipment.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP network fundamentals and common applications such as MySQL, SNMP, DHCP, SSH, DNS and experience on VLANs and Trucking.
- Document standard operating procedures for the technical eco-systems that are being managed.
- Configure, document and monitor network infrastructure.
- Responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of hardware and operating systems (Sol 10/Linux (centos)/WinXP/VMWare)
- Knowledge of operating systems and security practices of Solaris/Linux, VMware and Windows

Education & Certification Requirement -
- BS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent discipline
- Minimum three to four years system administration and network related experience
- Experience with Solaris/Linux and Windows operating systems
- Must have Cisco networking knowledge (CCNA certification needed)
