Engineering Project / Program Manager at leading networking firm.
Networking / Software Engineering background highly desired.
Location: San Jose / Milpitas
Industry - Networking / Software unit.
Attractive compensation.
Employment type: CONTRACT; Contract to hire feasibility [ please mention desired hourly rate / W2 / Corp to Corp when applying ]
This is initially a contracting position with high possibility of converting to a FT position with client (subject to additional evaluation etc.)
START - ASAP.

Program Manager would lead cross-functional teams consisting of product management, development, QA, support and operations to define, build and launch application products and software releases.

MUST HAVE SKILLS:
- ENGINEERING PROJECT / PROGRAM management
- Software/ Networking Product Development Experience including NPI, Pricing, Quality, Compliance and other cross functional engagements.
- Deep familiarity with associated requirement management , defect tracking, IP / open source compliance , PID management and pricing tools.
- Excellent Communications ; ability to communicate at all levels.
- Project management best practices
- Technical / Engineering educational background.
- Current or past experience at leading networking firms is highly desired.

Responsibilities:
- Oversees Program Life-cycle: Own the Product Development Methodology / process.
- Help educate the team on agile and/or waterfall process issues; defines high-level strategy for program implementation.
- Align with organization and company goals and strategies.
- Develop and manage cross-functional program schedules; identify risks, manage scope and resource changes, and monitor progress against plan
- Defines Program Success Metrics: Identifies and socializes program success metrics. Ensures project success metrics are aligned and rolled-up to the program. Identify team improvement opportunities and look externally for best practices.
- Manages Program Communication: Ensure effective communication within the engineering team and between the project team and other engineering groups. Proactively identifies and communicates impacts to internal and external stakeholders. Communicate program status to management and executives on a regular basis in both formal and informal environments. Keep all collaboration spaces and websites up to date.
- Resolves Program Issues: Identifies program-level issues and understands the inter-dependencies and severity of project-level issues.
- Approves scope/cost/schedule/ quality changes through the program sponsor.

Identify, escalate and drive resolution of issues.
- Assesses Program Risks: Proactively identifies risks and addresses unresolved. Develops a risk mitigation strategy and a contingency plan and communicate it to stake holders.
- Manages Program Costs: Estimates program investment and request budget allocation and re-allocations. Ensures program is within budget.
- Tracks, reports, and closes out expenses and contractual obligations.
- Establishes Standards: Establishes program processes, program structure, roles and responsibilities. Ensures that the program are organized and execute in a consistent manner.
