Responsibilities
Glassdoor´s engineering team is growing, and we're looking for a professional engineering manager to grow and lead our talented team. You will manage SCRUM engineering teams, working in lock step with our product team to get features built and released quickly. Your primary responsibility will be to manage (i.e., hire great people, mentor through regular feedback, and lead the team to deliver upon big tasks), but you should also be able to dig into solve the hard technical problems when needed. To succeed you will have a passion for development and a strong background in building dynamic, high-volume web and mobile sites with Java using an Agile development methodology.
As a fast-growing startup, we look for self-starters who thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment. In this role you work with small, collaborative teams of engineers, product managers, and designers – so excellent interpersonal and communication skills are also a must. But most importantly – we need a leader that can prioritize, multi-task, and deliver – because it's a lot more fun to get things done.
Skills and Requirements
•7+ years of software development experience on large scale, high-volume sites
•Several years of experience leading, managing, and hiring a team of talented engineers
•Experience as a second level manager (managing managers and team leads)
•Proven ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and meet aggressive deadlines with high quality results
•Deep understanding of Agile software development processes with large teams
•Bonus points if you have led mobile development teams
•Bonus points if you have experience with remote development teams such as remote US offices and/or off-shore development
•Extra Bonus Points: you're fun to be around!
This position is located in Sausalito, CA (just minutes from San Francisco, over the Golden Gate Bridge). Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience, including equity in an early stage startup backed by top-tier VCs (Benchmark Capital, Sutter Hill, Battery Ventures, and DAG Ventures).
