Evaluates and tests new or modified software programs and software development procedures used to verify that programs function according to user requirements and conform to establishment guidelines. Writes, revises, and verifies quality standards and test procedures for program design and product evaluation to ascertain quality of software. Reviews new or modified programs, including documentation, diagram, and flowcharts, to determine if programs will perform according to user request and conform to guidelines. May review computer operating logs to identify program processing errors. Tests program for validity of results, accuracy, reliability, and conformance to establishment standards. May identify differences between establishment standards and user applications and suggest modifications to conform to standards. May conduct compatibility tests with vendor-provided programs.
Minimum Requirements
4+ years experience in software and/or program testing.
Technical Skills:
Experience with relational database analysis/development.
Experience with SQL
Ability to interpret and understand database schemas to ensure database integrity.
Testing experience with Oracle database, Oracle Forms, PL/SQL, and UNIX
Experience working with XML and EDI files.
Testing experience with web based applications, J2EE, and SOA platform is desired.
Familiarity with Rational Unified Process (RUP), UML, Object Oriented Programming (OOP), and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is desired.
HP/Mercury Tools experience is preferred – Quick Test Pro, Quality Center, LoadRunner.
Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle and QA Methodologies.
Ability to create test artifacts from formal requirements as well as direct customer interface or other less formal methodologies.
Additional Knowledge & Skills:
Strong analytical/problem solving experience to deal with complex business problems.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and multi-task to meet critical deliverable dates.
Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
Must be a detail oriented, analytical and an independent thinker.
Must strive for results.
Experience with formal change management processes and tools.
Experience with formal configuration management processes and tools.
Experience with CMMi and Six Sigma.
Experience with testing FDA validated systems a plus.
Health-care experience is a plus.
Education
4-year degree in computer science or related field
